PROGRAMME RATIONALE

Leaders have a vision and mission to discharge.  They sell their vision to their followers and make sure that they produce others like themselves.  In order to sell their vision and mission, their situation mandates them to communicate clearly, passionately and rationally.  This communication drive is a deductive process where teaching is the core activity.  It is therefore imperative that students in this programme be skilled educators.  Essentially, the principles of leadership, management, and teaching are tools the learners in this programme must use to achieve their objective.

Students in this programme will be coming from diverse backgrounds, i.e., churches, school, corporate etc.  It is for this reason that competent pupils will be thus enabled to share their vision and strategies methodically and intelligently.

Leaders and Managers are essentially educators. They are transmitters of information to all learners, be it in a church or secular setting.  They educate, tutor, coach and develop learners to be competent in all spheres of living.  It is therefore critical for OCU learners to be thorough bred credible educators.  Leaders and managers becoming the models of what their learners must be.  They must adhere to the dictum: ‘Like begets like.’

Open Christian University in South Africa is the ideal institution to produce such leaders, managers and ministers to fill the vacuum existent in the current permissive marketplace.  The following qualifications are thus designed to achieve this purpose.
